I work in Prevention for a Native American Organization. Pregnancy Prevention Post-it Note Project - A 60 day challenge for Teens & Families. I will hold a meeting, give our participants post it notes to spread words of encouragement wherever they go. But first they will do it for themselves & family members. We will focus on self esteem, self awareness, and self love. They can write post-its on their own bathroom mirror to encourage themselves for the first 7 days. After the seventh day, they will take their post-its wherever they go & leave "love notes" for the community. I want to encourage teens to love & care for their bodies. To show respect for each other & encourage one another one post-it at a time. We will hold another meeting at the 30 days mark & ask what changes they have seen or felt. And another at the 60 days mark to bring our conclusions together & create a huge post-it wall of our favorite quotes & sayings. I will bring parents into this project & ask them to write notes to their children for the first 7 days as well. To let their children know they believe in them. They’re proud of them. Things like that…..and if they need self notes, it will be suggested that they write notes to themselves & their significant other. I believe that when a mommy is feeling good about herself; she can best nurture her children. When two parents are happy & working together; they are better parents to their children. It’s a full circle. I have used the post-it method myself over 10 years ago when I was feeling really bad about my life, didn’t like the way things turned out. I had a lot of shame & I needed help. It didn’t work overnight & I still have monsters I need to tackle, but it was a good way for me to pick myself up. If you have inspiring quotes you are willing to share, please email to me. Pregnancy Prevention theme & self esteem. Thank you!!! Our Native Language Departiment might also be invoived in this project to..... Teach the participants words / phrases help them find words in their Native Language? I like this project because it’s simple, cost effective & will have a great impact. Supplies needed will be minimal. I found an awesome youtube video of Native words of wisdom & would like to show it in our conference room at the first meeting. I don’t want to provide all the phrases for them. I would like them to research at the meeting. Take their idea or phrase & translate it? Or find single words to translate? Example: You are….(fill in the blank) Words / phrases like: You are amazing Beautiful you Strong like a rock The sun still shines above the rain You are more important than you realize Give the world your smile You will find peace when you seek peace Be the change you wish to see in the world."~ Gandhi You are beautiful no matter the size or brand on your clothing Pregnancy Prevention-A baby won’t make him stay Smile, it just makes you more beautiful When you feel like giving up, remember why you’ve held on for so long. Be confident with every step that you take! AND I want MORE! So please share if you have any favorites! Thank you! <3

I think that if the teachers could use sticky notes to not tell the kids how they got an answer wrong but also show them they encourage them to ask for help and what they may have done wrong in trying to get the right answer, kids would be more willing to ask for help!
